Reconstruction illustrations of Rough Castle Fort near Bonnybridge which I produced for Historic Scotland for display on on-site interpretation panels and potentially in guidebooks. The fort is one of the best preserved of a series of Roman forts constructed along the length of the Antonine Wall (built c.143 AD). It was defended by 6 metre thick turf ramparts and surrounded by defensive ditches.

The main fort compound (to the West) comprises military barracks, Principia (centre), granary and Commander's house (far right).  The compound to the East of the fort is the annexe - housing a bath house and possibly workshops, stables and other accommodation.
